  3. Ticket Machu Picchu + Mountain, 800 daily spaces divided into 2 groups. 1st group from 7 – 8am, 2nd group from 9:00 – 10:00am

How to book my tickets to Machu Picchu?

Booking online is the easiest way. It is extremely simple. Just go to the Reserve option, then select the Type of ticket. Fill in the required data and your request will be sent. When the data is validated we will send you a PayPal payment request to complete the process.  Remember that you do not need to have a PayPal account to use this method. Finally you will receive your tickets by email to be able to print and present them on the day of your visit. You must present your ticket and your personal document at the control gate of the Sanctuary.


What documents or data are required to purchase my tickets?

The entrance ticket to Machu Picchu is personal and non-transferable.  For processing some personal data is necessary. This data is strictly confidential and is protected by Peruvian laws. The data that you will provide us is as follows:

  • Number of visitors.
  • Full name and age of each visitor.
  • Nationality.
  • Passport or DNI number.
  • The type of tickets and the visiting hours.


University Students must send us a digital photo of the current university or institute card if they wish to access the discounts for students.  In addition they must not be more than 25 years old on the date of the visit.

  • Ticket Only Machu Picchu. It allows you to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu. It must be purchased a few weeks in advance. The ticket is recommended for the whole family.
  • Ticket Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu. It allows you to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu, as well as the Huayna Picchu mountain. The famous mountain that always appears in the photos of Machu Picchu must be purchased 3 months in advance at least since only 400 people can enter a day.
  • Ticket Machu Picchu + Mountain. It allows you to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu, as well as the Machu Picchu mountain. It is the opposite mountain to Huayna Picchu. From here you have impressive views.  This ticket you must buy a few weeks before. The ticket is recommended for children, adults and anyone who likes walks.


How to pay for my tickets to Machu Picchu?

The safest and fastest way is through PayPal. When you make a reservation you will receive a payment request.  You do not need a PayPal account to carry out the transaction,m.  You only need a credit or debit card.


How to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco?

Machu Picchu can be reached he following ways:

  • Walking on the Inca Trail,  you will need a travel agency to be able to make this trip. Write to us for more information.
  • By train, this is the easiest and shortest way.  You have to take a bus from the city of Cusco to the Ollantaytambo or Poroy train station.  Any of the options will take you to Machu Picchu in just under 4 hours of travel.
  • By bus + walk, you can take this option that is less expensive, but it will take you more time.  You travel to the hydroelectric sector by bus, then you walk through the railway line. The walk is smooth and not very long. They travel just over 10 kilometers. In total it will take you 8 hours of travel to take this option.

Can people with disabilities visit Machu Picchu?

People who need a wheelchair to move around, or suffer from any disease that limits their mobility, will unfortunately have difficulties when visiting Machu Picchu since it involves making some physical effort. In addition the road through the Inca city has bleachers, platforms and steep places. At the moment the Inca city has not been implemented for the visit of tourists in wheelchairs.  On the other hand, travel agencies could help you to have better options to reach the viewpoint area of the city and enjoy the view without having to visit the city.


Which ticket to Machu Picchu sells out the fastest?

Definitely the ticket Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu is the one that sells out the fastest. This ticket must be purchased online 3 months in advance and up to 4 months before in high tourist season (May to August).

If you could not get this entrance to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu, then choose the Machu Picchu + Mountain option. This option also includes a spectacular hike to the top of the Inca city. Also, you can buy this ticket a few weeks in advance.


What is the difference between Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain?

Both options are very attractive, there are only a limited number of visitors to visit them. If you plan to add any of these mountains to your visit it is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance. Especially if you want to go to the top of HuaynaPicchu.

Huayna Picchu is very famous. It is the mountain that appears in all the photos of Machu Picchu. It is a very attractive hike suitable for adventurers who are not afraid of high places. It involves some physical effort, the path is safe as long as go by the allowed and sign posted routes.  Reaching the top takes almost an hour.

On the other hand, the Machu Picchu mountain is opposite to Huayna Picchu. The top is higher, it will involve more effort and time to get there since the walk is longer. It is done through an Inca trail in perfect condition. Its route does not involve any risks.  It is suitable for the whole family, you can even go with your children.


Are there discounts on the purchase of the entrance to Machu Picchu?

Yes, there are several discounts and agreements. Here we detail what they are:

  • Discounts for minors. You only need to send a digital photo of the children’s passport or identity document (valid for children under 18 years old). Minors enter accompanied by their father or mother. Children under 3 years admission is free. 
  • Discounts for university students. You only need to send a digital photo of the current university card (valid for undergraduate students under 25 years of age). The ISIC card is no longer valid.


What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu opens its doors to visitors from 06:00 am to 05:00 pm,  you can visit it at any time. Take into account that it involves approximately 4 hours of travel to reach the Inca wonder (2 hours by train and 2 hours by bus), which is why the hours between 9 and 12 are very busy.

If you have a reservation at a hotel in the town of Aguas Calientes then you will have more time and tranquility. You could visit it at the first hour and see the sunrise in the Inca city. Many tourists prefer to go to Machu Picchu very early.

Finally, visits in the afternoon are not a bad idea either. The landscape and the weather are very good at all times, and in the afternoon there is little influx of tourists. You can walk more calmly and take better pics.


If I travel with children, can I visit Machu Picchu?

If you travel with children or older adults, do not worry, Machu Picchu will receive them with open arms. Only the visit to Huayna Picchu should be for children over 12 years old.

The Machu Picchu mountain is an excellent option to go with children.  This mountain is available for people of any age. They will enjoy a good family hike and beautiful landscapes.

On the other hand, if you are looking for something different for your child, the Machu Picchu site museum is open to you. It also has a botanical garden. The Machu Picchu Butterfly Garden is very close and the children love it. The entrance to the Butterfly Garden is included in the tickets to Machu Picchu.

How many days of validity is my entrance to Machu Picchu?

The ticket to Machu Picchu can only be used on the date you previously chose in your reservation. You cannot use it before or after.


Are there returns, cancellations or modifications?

Yes, more than 72 hours before the date of your visit, modifications, cancellations or returns can be made. But they are subject to the payment of a 40% penalty.


Can I buy my ticket at the entrance gate to Machu Picchu?

No, the sale is only made online or in person at the offices of the Ministry of Culture in the city of Cusco. It is advisable to buy online and in advance to avoid long lines or crowded spaces since Machu Picchu only receives a limited number of tourists per day.  Taking measures to stop the spread of covid-19 this capacity has been reduced to 40%.


What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is open to the public all year round.  Between the months of December and mid-April is the rainy season, so you should take your measurements. The weather is pleasant despite the rains, since Machu Picchu is located in the jungle or commonly called cloud forest.


How to buy the ticket to Machu Picchu for 2022?
